In Absentia

Society is the most powerful concoction in the world and society has no existence whatsoever. Virginia Woolf, Orlando

Movies; emotions; poetry; memories.

I’m confused why being woke is a bad thing. Do we know what it means?

Wokeism:

promotion of liberal progressive ideology and policy as an expression of sensitivity to systemic injustices and prejudices.

What is wrong with that? Am I missing something? Have we been conditioned into believing that divisiveness and aggression is the way to success? It’s become a word of power that certainly wasn’t used in the Eighties, I felt quite liberal back then. But hey, we’re in a fucked up world of division. Far worse now than at any time in the last fifty years. Ergo, War. War makes money, war makes people rich and corporations profitable. No wonder we all hate each other.

FEBRUARY ELEVEN

last night i dreamt of light

hiding under a tree

chased by flickers of angry red

authoritative blue, warring white

my shoes let me down in the dark

my feet no longer able to run

even if they wanted to. i didn’t.

last night i dreamt of sickness

the decaying feeling of meeting people

energy drained, i was the disappointment

scolded for sick, my daughter languishing

in her contempt. pleased to be so.

i tried hard to breathe. i didn’t want to.

last night i woke with pain.

suffering  with toes born of

too much diet. the stigmas don’t

warn of the disease, only the smiles of

perfect teeth. rotten  world. like an apple core

like bad seeds who hold court.

you have to laugh like jelly. i didn’t.

How to write surreal poetry;

Surrealism Technique – Automatism – first used by Andre Breton in 1919 for the first surrealist text, The Magnetic Fields.

It is here you use the dream process to write and create. Unlock the mind from the trappings of form, formula, linear storytelling, and open the imagination. Whatever word of phrase comes to your mind, write it down, see where your inner voice takes you.

Why not give it a go as an antidote to all the negative news we are receiving.

Be seeing you.
